Week 3 is in the books and at this point we know who is truly going to compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff. We have seen enough football to really know the identity of each team and what they bring to the table.
-Clemson-Trevor Lawrence has struggled so far this year throwing 5 Ints in the first 3 games after throwing only 4 all of last year. They have relied heavily on Etienne and the defense, and both of them have come up big! This defense is fucking insane! They have so much speed it’s ridiculous. With Deshaun and now Trevor, this defense has been overlooked for a little while, but they should not be anymore. They might be the best defense in the country.
-Alabama-Tua has been great so far and the WRs they have on the outside can beat pretty much anyone in the country. The defense has been had at times, but the defense does not need to be elite for this team to win. It all comes down to Tua and the offense. If Tua can get over his big game woes from last year Alabama will be right there in January again.
-LSU-Joe Burrow has been one of the 3 best QBs in the country so far this year. If he can limit the mistakes and make smart throws LSU really has a chance to make a run at the playoff. They already have a signature win at Texas and they still have some tough games to come, but this team will ride Burrow as far as it can this year.
-Georgia-Georgia might be the most complete team in the country. They have a high power offense and a lockdown defense. Jake Fromm is playing great and D’Andre Swift has run all over everyone who has gotten in his way. They have a big matchup coming up with ND this weekend and may put the whole country on notice if they blow the Irish out.
-Ohio St.-Ryan Day has exceeded all expectations in his first season at OSU. Justin Fields is in the Heisman race, and JK Dobbins has looked like a top 5 RB in the country. They really look like a contender but the schedule will get tougher. I have them in my CFP predictions so I like their odds at winning out.
-Oklahoma-Jalen Hurts has been the story of the first 3 weeks of the season. He has come into OU and has taken his play to the next level and inserted himself right into the Heisman convo. As expected, the defense is fucking awful and that may come back to bite them in the ass as it has in years past.
-Florida-They have played 2 close games this year and most of you probably won’t like this, but hear me out. Playing in week 0 would suck. You have a week less of training camp than normal and it just screws up a team’s entire routine heading into a season. They almost lost to Kentucky this weekend, but it is a rivalry game, it was at Kentucky, and Kentucky is a pretty solid team this year. Feleipe Franks has all the talent in the world and if he gets his head on straight they may make some noise in the SEC.
-Utah-Utah is legit, and they are looking to represent the Pac-12 in the CFP this year! Their defense is great giving up only 29 points through 3 games and they have not turned the ball over on offense. They roll into conference play this week starting at USC, but they have the talent to run through the Pac-12 this season.
-UCF-The Golden Knights are more than likely going to run the table again! I would love to see them in the playoff this time around. Their matchup with Stanford this weekend was supposed to be a ranked matchup that the Knights could use as a statement to the committee and the rest of the country. Some tough injuries to Stanford took that away from them, but UCF still put a beatdown on them. I really hope some SEC teams lose to make room for UCF. At least make the committee make a decision.
-Notre Dame-The Irish have struggled at certain points during their first two matchups against shitty opponents. They cannot afford that this week as they travel to Georgia. The defense cannot be slow like they have been and the offense will have to click before the 3rd quarter if they want any shot in hell at winning this one.
There are some HUGE fucking matchups coming up this weekend and I am stoked! 3 ranked matchups and plenty of other great conference game set to take place which I am sure will shake the shit out these rankings.
