In a week that turned out to be just as crazy as we had hoped, 8 ranked teams lost! The upsets all started with the first game on Friday night. Utah went into USC against a backup QB expecting a win. Then USC’s backup QB gets hurt and at that point Utah has to be thinking blowout. Well Mat Fink came in and said FUCK THAT! He came in and went 21-30 for 351 Yards and 3 TDs in USC’s biggest win of the year. This game was just the beginning of ranked teams dropping like fucking flies!
-Clemson-Honestly, Clemson will not be truly tested until the College Football Playoff in January. The ACC is fucking awful and Clemson is going to run a fucking train on the teams in that conference. As long as they keep dominating them like they have, they will not lose the top spot.
-Alabama-The Tide have a relatively light schedule until they get to what will more than likely be the game of the year. A date with LSU in Tuscaloosa awaits on November 4th. They travel to College Station to face A&M before then and that might be tough, but I don’t really think so after watching A&M this weekend. Tua is right in the mix in the Heisman conversation and they have a top 5 WR in the nation in Jerry Jeudy. The SEC West looks tough and we will see if Bama can come out of it unscathed.
-Georgia-I truly believe Georgia is better than how they played this weekend. I think they got fooled by the media into thinking this was actually going to be an easy game. They were huge favorites and people were saying ND didn’t belong on the same field as them. That was not the case in the first half. Fromm looked out of sorts and the OL was not really opening any holes up for Swift. That all changed in the 2nd half and they finally got into gear. They took a lead and got the huge stop at the end of the game for a big win against a top 10 team.
-LSU-Joe Burrow set the single game record for TD passes by an LSU QB this weekend. Between him and Coach O the atmosphere around this team is fucking electric! The hype is real and expectations are now fucking huge! LSU cannot look ahead to their matchup with Alabama though because they have 2 top 10 matchups before that game. Florida and Auburn both travel to Tiger Stadium for huge showdowns that will most definitely have CFB Playoff implications. I just have a feeling that this LSU team has what it takes to get through their gauntlet.
-Ohio St.-Buckeye fans were able to breathe easy unlike some other Big 10 fucking choke jobs this weekend. Justin Fields had 6 total TDs and the Buckeyes one a horribly lopsided game by 71 fucking points! I feel like OSU has a deceivingly tough schedule with a trip to Nebraska this week followed by a visit from MSU (who might be the most confusing team in the country). If they can handle business in the next 3, a matchup looms with Wisconsin that will definitely have an impact on the playoff race.
-Auburn-The Tigers really proved me wrong this weekend as they went into College Station and completely dominated Texas A&M. The score does not indicate how badly Auburn outplayed the Aggies. Mond did not throw a TD until the Aggies were already down 21-3! Bo Nix took care of the ball and Auburn just ran the ball down A&M’s throat all day long. If Auburn has success like this running the ball with that defense, they will be tough for anyone to beat.
-Oklahoma-Being idle hurt Oklahoma in the Power Rankings this week only because of teams like Auburn winning big games. Oklahoma comes off the bye with a home game against Texas Tech where Hurts will continue his Heisman pursuit and OU will continue their National Championship pursuit. Look for Hurts to have 2 huge games in the next 2 weeks leading up to huge matchup with Texas.
-Florida-Felipe Franks was hurt and Florida had to start a QB who had not started a game since his freshman year in high school. Kyle Trask played a lot in high school but he never actually started a game. He showed up big though and led Florida to a big win over Tennessee which actually isn’t too difficult because Tennessee fucking blows! Florida has not convinced anyone that they are actually good, but they will have their chance with a real tough road ahead.
-Wisconsin-Wisconsin completely fucking humiliated Jim Harbaugh and Michigan. Jonathan Taylor went for 200+ and 2 TDs and Jack Coan added 2 rushing TDs of his own to help the Badgers ROUTE the Wolverines. It was 35-0 at one point and Michigan looked fucking dead! This Wisconsin team has given up only 14 points through 3 games and may be the real deal.
-Texas-This Texas team is solid. Sam Ehlinger is leading the way, but this defense is better than people give them credit for. They faced Chuba Hubbard, who coming into this game averaged over 7 yards per carry, and they held him to 3 yards per carry. He had 121 yards on 37 carries. OKSt. Heavily relies on Hubbard and UT shut him down for the most part. They also forced a couple of TOs and overall played a great game against a really good offense.
-Notre Dame-Close loss to Georgia keeps them in the CFB Playoff conversation. They absolutely have to run the table and get some help to make it.
-Oregon-The Pac 12 has a few teams left that can make a push, but a one loss Pac 12 is almost guaranteed to get left out.
- Boise St.-The only Group of 5 team left with a chance. They need a lot of help to get there even if they finish undefeated.
-Penn St.-After Purdue this week, they have a stretch of 3 straight ranked matchups which could make or break their season before their showdown with OSU.
-Iowa-The Big 10 West is up for grabs with Iowa and Wisconsin being the real favorites to win it. Their matchup in November could determine the winner of this division.
-Washington-The loss to Cal pretty much killed their CFB Playoff hopes but winning Pac 12 is still realistic for them on the back of Jacob Eason.
-Cal-The only undefeated team left in the Pac 12 may not have a path to the CFB Playoff even if they run the table. It would make for a good conversation though.
-UCF-Tough loss this week against a real tough Pitt team. That loss will define them in the eyes of the committee but anyone with a fucking pulse knows this team is one of the 8 best teams in the country.
-Virginia-Tough matchup with ND this week that is pretty much fucking meaningless for them in terms of season long goals. For UVA it will all come down to making the ACC Championship game and competing with Clemson.
-USC-A couple surprising wins led by backup QBs has USC back in the national conversation. Maybe that chode Clay Helton’s job is safe for this year. Maybe.
-Utah-A rough loss to a third string QB really showed everyone what Utah is really about, which is not being that fucking good!
-Michigan-It actually really fucking pains me to have them in here after the way they got embarrassed on Saturday. Outside of the App St. upset, that was one of the worst losses I have ever seen for that program. Fucking awful!
-Wake Forest-The Demon Deacons are getting no national love from anyone! As long as they take care of business they will get a chance to show the world what they are made of in November against Clemson.
-Oklahoma St.-In a loss the Cowboys showed a lot! They can play with the heavyweights in the Big 12, and they have 2 of the biggest offensive studs in the country. Tylan Wallace and Chuba Hubbard are fucking electric!
-Kansas St.-An enormous road win over an SEC team before their bye and some shitty losses by fringe ranked teams get KSU in these rankings!
