Can Gerrit Cole Replicate MadBum’s 2014 Legendary Postseason Run?

If you’re a baseball fan and you don’t know the legend of Madison Bumgarner’s 2014 playoff run you need to get your fucking life together.

He started with a CG shutout in the WC game against Pittsburgh giving up only 4 hits and striking out 10 Pirates in a Giants win. He followed that up with a gem in the NLDS in a game San Fran actually lost, but MadBum did his part surrendering only 2 ER over 7 innings. Then he started 2 games in the NLCS posting a 1.72 ERA and striking out 12 over 15.2 innings while the Giants won the series 4-1.

He truly became a legend in the WS that year against the Royals. MadBum started Game 1 and was fuckin electric. He went 7 innings, allowed only 3 hits, 1 run, and struck out 5 in a Giants win. With the Series tied at 2 games apiece, MadBum came out to start Game 5 and all he did was throw one of the most dominant game in WS history. He fired a CG shutout allowing only 4 hits and striking out 8 Royals in a 5-0 win. At this point he had made his mark as having one of the best postseasons ever for a pitcher, but he really cemented his legacy as a playoff legend in Game 7.

In the 4th inning of Game 7 the Giants took a 3-2 lead. Jeremy Affeldt had come in to relieve Tim Hudson and had gone 2+ innings when Bruce Bochy decided to go to MadBum in the 5thinning. Now keep in mind MadBum is on 2 days rest here. Bumgarner became a FUCKING LEGEND by finishing the game and winning the WS for the Giants. He went 5 innings, allowed just 2 hits and struck out 4 to shut the door on the Royals.

It was undoubtedly one of the greatest postseason performances we have ever seen!

Can Gerrit Cole match it?

Through 2 ALDS starts Cole is 2-0 with 15.2 innings pitched, only 6 hits allowed, and has struck out 25 batters! This has legendary written all the fuck over it! Especially if he can replicate this success against the Yankees. Cole has been a top 4 pitcher in baseball for pretty much the entire season and now he is finally getting to show everyone what the fuck he is all about.

He has completely outshined his ace teammates in Verlander and Greinke and he is looking to put the Astros on his back if need be.

I am all in on Gerrit Cole and I would suggest everyone else is too because we may be witnessing history in the making during every single one of his starts.
