Yes, I know it’s only 1 win, but the Jets looked like a completely different team, on offense and defense today. The AFC Wild Card spots are wide open and with the 2nd half schedule the Jets have, there is absolutely no reason to count them out just yet.
After upsetting the NFC East leading Cowboys, the Jets moved to 1-4 and only 2 games out of the 2nd Wild Card spot. The biggest takeaway from this game was not just the win, but how the Jets actually looked as a team. Without their defensive leader, CJ Mosley, the Jets were still able to hold Zeke to less than 4 YPC.
Yes I know Amari Cooper left the game early, but Dak is supposed to be the star here right? Everyone has said Amari isn’t worth the money, and if that’s the case the Cowboys should have been able to pull this game out. Well the Jets defense held strong and the offense FINALLY looked like a fucking NFL offense.
In Sam Darnold’s first game back from mono he led the Jets to their best offensive game of the year, by far! Darnold threw for 338 and Robby Anderson finally looked like the guy we thought he was. This looked like an offense that can compete in the AFC this year. The only complaint is that LeVeon ABSOLUTELY NEEDS more than 14 carries each week, especially in games where the Jets hold an 18 point lead.
The Jets remaining schedule is favorable to say to say the least:
After NE on MNF next week, the Jets get 6 of their next 7 against teams currently below .500. There is a real possibility the Jets win at least 8 of their last 10 to finish 9-7. I actually like their chances of winning 9 of those games and finishing this season with 10 wins.
The Jets will get Mosley back and the defense will start clicking and they WILL string some wins together. This will be interesting to follow going forward because the AFC is wide the fuck open right now. Even with the Bills at 4-1, they are no sure thing because their offense fucking blows.
I am not saying the Jets will make the playoffs, but they will make it interesting, I promise you that!
